South Carolina Ballet presents Elvis Ballet



 

 

South Carolina Ballet will present the world premiere of William Starrett’s Elvis Ballet April 13 at the Koger Center for the Arts with two performances celebrating the musical legacy that is Elvis Presley, by showcasing 30 of his greatest hits reimagined through dance.

Choreographed by William Starrett and nine other talented choreographers, with live music by Chris Reed under the direction of Mark Rapp, the performance is a unique fusion of ballet, jazz, and contemporary dance.

This mixed repertoire production promises to take audiences on a remarkable journey through the career of the iconic superstar. The ballet will feature seamless transitions between ballet, jazz, and contemporary dance styles and successfully blend classical ballet with Presley’s music.

An electrifying live musical score, directed by Mark Rapp, including some of Elvis’s greatest hits, such as “Jailhouse Rock,” “Heartbreak Hotel,” “Love Me Tender,” and “Suspicious Minds,” among others, will delight any Elvis fan.
