Morgan Rae Megna


 

 

Morgan Rae Megna, 22, of Blythewood, S.C., passed away on Saturday November 20, 2021. She was born January 6, 1999, in Columbia, S.C., to Tony and Mary Megna.

Prior to her illness, she was an active senior at Presbyterian College in Clinton, S.C., and a member Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. Morgan was a member of the International English Honor Society, Sigma Tau Delta, and served as the president of the Alpha Alpha Tau Chapter. Morgan will be remembered as a welcoming spirit whose ever-present smile lit up any room, and as someone who touched everyone with her humor and keen wit.

Always ready to speak her mind and defend her beliefs, she was a firecracker. Throughout her battle against leukemia, she was loved by every doctor, nurse, and caregiver both at Duke University, Durham, N.C.; and S.C. Oncology, Columbia, S.C.

She is survived by her parents, her sisters, Emily C. Megna; Molly M. Arneman; brother-in-law, Tommy Arneman; and beloved dog, Riggs. Many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends adored being a part of Morgan’s life and will hold her in their hearts forever.

The Requiem Mass for Morgan was celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at The Church of the Good Shepherd located at 1512 Blanding Street Columbia, S.C. For those attending Morgan’s Mass, it was requested that guests wear a mask and maintain a reasonable amount of distance to create a safe environment for all. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
