Jane Alan Gibbes Kapp


 

 

Jane Alan Gibbes Kapp, 75, of Columbia, died on Tuesday, August 24, 2021. Born in Columbia July 13, 1946, she was a daughter of the late Louis LeConte and Caroline Blanche Cudd Gibbes.

Jane Alan was a graduate of Dreher High School in Columbia and Mount Vernon College in Washington, D.C. She was a member of the Junior League, the Assembly, the Pine Tree Hunt Club, and the Society of Colonial Dames.

Survivors include her husband, Lloyd M. Kapp; daughter, Mason Kapp; son, Lloyd M. Kapp Jr.; grandchildren, Jane Alan Mason Kapp and Suzanne Verigood Kapp. She is also survived by her siblings Leila Gibbes Williams (Kit), Louis LeConte Gibbes Jr. (Lynn), George Felder Gibbes (Ethel), and Elizabeth Gibbes deLoach ( John), and sister-in-law Janie Kapp Timmons ( Joe), brothers-in-law John Michael Kapp (Bonnie), Thomas Little Kapp (Helen), and Woodman Crane Kapp (Cindy). In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother and sister in-law, Robert P. Kapp Jr. (Mary Price).

The service for Mrs. Kapp was held at 3 p.m., Monday, August 30, at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, 1100 Sumter Street, Columbia. A private burial preceded the service in Elmwood Cemetery. The family received friends from 4–6 p.m., Saturday, August 28 at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia.
