Heathwood Hall’s PEAK Program invites all Heathwood Hall students and all Columbia residents to join a virtual campout celebrating springtime and the natural world in our own backyards.
While students at Heathwood Hall are by now well acclimated to remote learning, what they miss most are the connections with friends and teachers, and the extracurricular activities like sports and class campouts that are now no longer available. So the team at Heathwood’s PEAK Program for Leadership, Education, and Adventure has invited the whole student body to a Remote Campout — and they’ve extended the invitation to the entire Midlands community.
The idea, says PEAK Director Stan Wood, “is to offer a community event at a time when people can’t experience community in regular ways.”
Participants are invited to set up camp on the evening of Friday, April 3, in their yards or in their homes. PEAK has been posting creative ideas for family bivouacs, campfire recipes, and fun activities on their social media feeds all week.
