Registration is now open for the WeGOJA Foundation’s annual historic preservation conference and awards luncheon set for Wednesday–Thursday, April 20–21. The theme is “Historic Preservation: One Step Closer to Social Justice.” The conference will begin with a 5:30 p.m. reception Wednesday, April 20, at the African American Monument on the State House grounds. Dr. Ronald H. High will offer the Marian Anderson/Leontyne Price/William Warfield Vocal Arts and Dramatic Summer Conservatory Camp for 2022 for students who are 14-18 (in grades 9th-12th) and enrolled in a music class in public and private schools, June 15–17, 10 a.m.–2 p.m. Students are asked to register by May 15. 803-790-4959.

The Sunday Dinner Mission team of Washington Street United Methodist Church (WSUMC) will hold a special Easter Monday dinner for the clients of its Soup Cellar Monday, April 18, 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. The WSUMC Soup Cellar is located on the Marion Street side of the church which is located at 1401 Washington Street. Along with the meal, the church is providing haircuts, and representatives from the Free Medical Clinic and South Carolina Legal Services will be on hand. The Irmo International Festival will be held April 24, 10 a.m.–5 p.m., Irmo Community Park. Entrance is free and there will be good food, live entertainment with music and dancing, vendors, art exhibits, a story tellers tent, a bounce house, and an opportunity for nature lovers and creative artists of all ages to help build a Rangoli—a beautiful, giant, eco-friendly Indian art form created on the ground.
