Appreciation for community support

The United Methodist Women of Shandon Methodist Church would like to thank the community for supporting their 13th annual Missions Possible Garage Sale which took place August 17 and 18, where you could find anything from clothes, tools and electronics to toys, linen and more.

Gross proceeds from the sale and donations totaled over $32,600 dollars. All these funds will go directly back into the community and beyond to assist 35 different agencies. Eleven agencies were also invited to “shop for free” and select any items that might be helpful to their ministry and all the unsold merchandise was donated to His House.

Last year, over $32,000 was given to over 35 different organizations to help with food, shelter, medical care, education, after school care, and therapeutic intervention.

Some of the agencies that received gifts were Harvest Hope Food Bank, Cooperative Ministries, Epworth, Family shelter, Free Medical Clinic, Meals on Wheels, Women’s Shelter, Killingsworth, and Sistercare, just to name a few.

Each year the sale is held the third Friday and Saturday of August so go ahead and mark your calendars for next year’s sale August 16 and 17.
