First flights turn apprehensions to smiles



Experience replaced classroom theory Saturday morning for four C.A. Johnson Preparatory Academy Jr. ROTC cadets as they made their first flights. The cadets were flown in private planes by experienced pilots, taking off from Columbia Hamilton- Owens Downtown Airport. Three Richland One seniors named national achievement semifinalists



Three Richland One high school seniors have been named semifinalists in the 2010 National Achievement Scholarship competition. Dominic M. Boyd and Johanna R. Caple, both students at Dreher High School, and Steven T. Moore of Lower Richland High School are among 45 African–American seniors in 30 South Carolina public high schools and 1,600 seniors nationwide to achieve this honor.

Columbia College honorees receive medallion
