W.J. Keenan High School’s Marching Keenan Raider Rubber Band battled bands from across North Carolina and South Carolina and won first place overall for Class AA at the Spirit of the Cardinal Band Competition September 20 at Phillip O. Berry High School in Charlotte, North Carolina.
In addition to placing first overall, the marching band placed first in four categories for Class AA: Dance, Music Performance, Marching/Maneuvering, and General Effect.
“We are very proud of our students and our band staff for these accomplishments,” said Howard Parnell, W.J. Keenan’s director of bands. “Congratulations to our band members for a job well done.”
The band also placed second in the percussion category and third in the drum major and flags categories.
