Students to make up snow day April 13

Richland One students will make up the day of school they missed on March 2 by attending classes on Monday, April 13.

District schools and administrative offices were closed March 2 because of the forecast for inclement weather. Under state law, students are required to attend school 180 days, so the missed day of school must be made up before the end of the school year.

April 13 was designated on the district’s 2008- 2009 calendar as the second make- up day if needed. February 16 was designated as the first snow day. Students went to school on that day to make up for the day missed when schools were closed on January 20 because of inclement weather.

Had the second make- up day not been needed, April 13 would have been a holiday for students and a workday for teachers.

Richland One employees should contact their supervisors regarding plans for employees to make up the missed day of work.
