South Carolina Aviation Association (SCAA) has announced the recipients of its 2025 SCAA Scholarships Program, awarded to promising students pursuing careers in aviation. The Scholarships Program is supported through generous donations and proceeds from events, such as the silent auction and golf outing, sponsored by WK Dickson, held during the 2025 SCAA Annual Conference in February. The recipients are actively advancing their education and training in flight, maintenance, and aerospace, preparing to become the next generation of aviation professionals in South Carolina.
Two recipients include local students Davis Maldonado and William Edwards.
Maldonado, a graduate of Dreher High School, studies geography with a minor in climate and society at the University of South Carolina (USC), while completing flight training at Propel Aviation. Inspired by a family legacy in aviation, he aims to become a professional pilot, planning to build flight hours as a flight instructor before advancing to commercial airlines.
Edwards, a graduate of Spring Hill High School and an aerospace engineering student at USC, combines academic studies and research with leadership roles to prepare for a future in aviation, including potential pilot training through military or civilian pathways.
“SCAA Scholarships Program represents an investment in the future workforce of our state’s airports,” reports James Stephens, SCAA president. “We are proud to support these aspiring professionals as they advance their education and careers.”
The SCAA Scholarships Program supports these students as they build the skills and knowledge necessary to contribute to South Carolina’s aviation industry and beyond. Qualifying students are encouraged to apply for the SCAA Scholarships Program. Visit scaaonline.com for full details.
