This Saturday, August 11, the South Carolina Military Miniature Society (SCMMS) annual toy soldier show returns to the State Museum. The show has been held for 26 years on the second Saturday in August. The SCMMS show features toy soldier and model figure displays and dioramas created by club members. This year the club will unveil a Vietnam Medevac diorama destined for the Confederate Relic Room. Local and nationally-known vendors will be on hand selling toy soldiers and civilian figures, vehicles, model buildings, action figures, and other collectible toys. SCMMS will be selling toy soldiers and vehicles from deceased member Paul Kauffman’s collection. Doors open to the public at 10 a.m. and admission is free. Anyone interested in joining the club can stop at the information table at the show entrance for details and contact information. The South Carolina Military Miniature Society meets monthly in members’ homes. The State Museum is located at 301 Gervais Street.
