Forty-one Richland One art students received honors and awards in the 2025 South Carolina State Fair’s Youth Art Competition— Elliott Grabbatin, Guthrie Whitehead, Lucy Hammond, Beena Abdussalam, Aria Le, Olivia Mikes, Otto Bronson, Hank Fields, Kennedy Brown, Caiden Nostrant, Emma Becker, Peyton Mooney, Talulla Gioia, AR Walker, Mary Myers Pfrommer, Paisley Choate, Eli Eckstorm, Kaden McCollester, Jayda Miller, Leo Yang, Charlotte Draffin, Jonah Wood, Sean Powers, Eason Zhao, Ruby Merz, Eden McManus, Lila Rose Quattlebaum, Ann Maynard, Violet Krystofer, Ryn Fogle, Hazel Meyer- Gutbrod, Finnley Flechas, Elizabeth Reed, Rhys Boyd, Hayden Voyles, Jessica Hedley, Taylor Smith, Patrina Clarke, and Annika Sweetland. In addition to the student winners, Dreher High School art teacher Mary Catherine Raines received the South Carolina State Fair’s Student Art Education Teacher Award for the high school division for the second year in a row.

Several Lexington-Richland School District Five classrooms will soon benefit from grants provided by the Mid-Carolina Electric Cooperative. The cooperative’s annual Bright Ideas program grants provide funding to teachers who have demonstrated innovative ideas for classroom projects. School District Five received $2,320 in grants. School District Five grant recipients include Chris Austin (Leaphart Elementary), Martin Cwiakala (The Center for Advanced Technical Studies), and Jill Sullivan (Chapin Middle).

Clear Dot Charter School has announced an Employability Program in collaboration with the Vocational Training Center of Richland County. This initiative is designed to equip students with essential hands-on job readiness skills, combining real work experience with paid opportunities.
