Dutch Fork High School has been recognized as a 2025–2026 National Beta School of Merit.
Richland One Superintendent Dr. Todd Walker will present the findings from his 90-Day Strategic Entry Plan Monday, December 8, at 6 p.m. in the W.J. Keenan High School Auditorium, 361 Pisgah Church Road.
Lexington-Richland School District Five’s Student Nutrition Department is continuing to ensure no child goes hungry by offering a meal to students within the district’s after-school program. The meal is made possible through the district’s sponsorship of the Department of Agriculture Child and Adult Care Food Program. The program began in October and will end September 2026. Meals will be offered Monday through Friday to students enrolled in afterschool programs at Harbison West Elementary School, Leaphart Elementary School, Universal Outreach & STEM Program, Seven Oaks Park, Oak Pointe Elementary School, Nursery Road Elementary School, and YMCA Northwest location on Kennerly Road.
East Point Academy has announced the success of its recent schoolwide food drive, during which students, families, faculty, and staff from both the elementary and middle campus came together to collect more than 500 pounds of canned goods and nonperishable items for local families in need. The donated items were delivered directly to Northside Mission, a community organization that operates a food pantry and clothing closet for those facing hardship.
Three students, Stanley “Wise” Shannon, Aron Smith, and Javion Latimer, from the Architectural Engineering Technology program at Midlands Technical College (MTC) were the only two-year college students to receive a 2025 National Student Design Award from the Society of American Registered Architects (SARA). The students were also the sole winners of a national $2,000 grant from the Coalition of Community College Architecture Programs, given in partnership with SARA.
Lexington-Richland School District Five social studies coordinator Melony Sanford has been named the recipient of this year’s Charles F. Vaughan Leadership in Social Studies Award by the South Carolina Council for the Social Studies.
The Lexington-Richland School District Five Adult Education Program was recognized by the South Carolina Department of Education Office of Adult Education for outstanding performance in Adult Basic Education and English as a Second Language performance.
