Bully Bobby didn’t stop! Instead, he began to punish me for “telling on him.” He pushed me out of line as we changed classes, grabbed me up, and shouted in my face, “I’m gonna beat you up, Sissy Boy!”

He took the ball from my dodge ball game, threw it over the fence, and snarled, “Now, go get it, Sissy Boy!

He collared me in the lunch line later and threatened, “Give me your lunch money or I’ll take your bike, Sissy Boy!”

I bravely replied, “Just do it! My father is The Sheriff! He’ll arrest you!” It was a lie, but it worked…for a few days. Just enough time for me to prepare a better defense.

Because of his dirty clothes, smelly unkempt hair, and squinty eyes, I began to refer to Bully Bobby as “The Roach,” not to his face, of course, and not loud enough for him to hear, either.

Several days before Christmas holidays, The Roach pushed me out of the lunch line and yanked beautiful Regina’s blond curls. Before I could retaliate, he shouted, “Cooty Head! Cooty Head! She got cooties! Touch her, you get cooties. Aarrrah…”

My friends looked the other way, afraid to even look at Bully Bobby.

I got back in line, said nothing, and followed my cowardly buddies.

Beautiful Regina came up to me, touched my arm sending chills over my entire body, and whispered, “Bobby has been pestering me all week….every morning on the way to school….he calls me cootie head.” And she started crying.

That did it! I recruited several of my heretofore cowardly Forest Hills buddies, and I conned them into pinky-swearing to protect Beautiful Regina from The Roach saying, “It is our duty to protect Regina from Bully Bobby.” And I promised to meet Regina every morning and escort her to the school gate.

But, first, I had to find out about cooties.
