Rickenmann, Herbert win reelection, runoffs set for At-Large, district 4 seats

Statement from Mayor Daniel Rickenmann

“I want to first thank my wife, Laura, and my daughters Carlyle and Ellie, who without their support I would not be where I am today. I would like to also recognize my opponents, Ms. Jessica Thomas and Mr. Wade Fulmer. We all ran to serve our community and represent our city. Their courage and dedication should be acknowledged and commended.

“Columbia voters had the opportunity this election to vote for a candidate who best represents their goals, needs, and ambitions. I am proud of everyone who casted their ballot this election no matter which candidate they selected, I look forward to representing all residents.

“Columbia is growing. The Midlands are growing. On average we see about 28 new residents move to our region each day. We have the remarkable opportunity to rise to the occasion to intentionally grow and move forward. Through affordable housing development and economic development, we will work to address the needs not just for today but for our future. We are grateful to have the opportunity to serve all residents and our home of Columbia for another four years alongside our City Council, leadership, and local businesses. Columbia is on the rise, people are learning our name, and we will work towards Columbia becoming the number one city in our state.”

Statement from Councilwoman Tina Herbert

Yesterday, the people of District One placed their trust in me once again, and I am humbled. Thank you to every voter, volunteer, poll worker, and neighbor who believed in our shared vision. This campaign was about results you can feel—revitalizing neighborhoods, expanding affordable housing, addressing food insecurity, and creating safe, vibrant communities for our families, especially our youth.

I want to thank my opponent for stepping up to serve. Campaigns end, but our work together for Columbia continues. Moving forward, my focus remains the same as it has always been: listening, solving problems, and delivering results for every corner of District One.
