Richland Two high schools ranked among nation’s best



All five high schools in Richland School District Two have been named among the nation’s best, according to the latest rankings from U.S. News & World Report.

Blythewood High School, Richland Northeast High School, Ridge View High School, Spring Valley High School, and Westwood High School also earned recognition among the top high schools in Columbia and South Carolina.

Leading the district is Blythewood High School, ranked 26th in South Carolina with a 92 percent graduation rate and a college readiness score of 27.8 percent. Spring Valley High School, ranked 34th statewide, earned the highest college readiness score in the district at 31 percent, alongside an 86 percent graduation rate. Ridge View High School secured the 66th spot, boasting a 91 percent graduation rate and a 22 percent college readiness score. At 93rd in the state, Westwood High School achieved an 84 percent graduation rate and a 16 percent college readiness score, reflecting steady growth and progress. Richland Northeast High School, ranked 119th statewide, celebrates the accomplishments of its students with a 75 percent graduation rate and a 14.5 percent college readiness score.

“Each of our high schools contributes to the overall strength of Richland Two,” said Superintendent Dr. Kim Moore. “These rankings reflect the hard work of our students, the dedication of our educators, and the support of our families and community. While there is always room for growth, we are proud our schools are preparing students for enrollment, enlistment, and employment.”

The U.S. News Best High Schools rankings evaluate data from more than 24,000 public high schools nationwide, with nearly 18,000 schools ranked. Schools are measured on six factors, including performance on state assessments, college curriculum and readiness, graduation rates, and the performance of underserved students. In South Carolina, 250 high schools were included in the rankings.
