Richland One student wins National Art Contest for Environmental Conservation

Richland County Council presents a proclamation to Aleysha Laureano and her mother.

On April 1 Richland County Council presented a proclamation recognizing Aneysha Laureano, a fourth-grade student at Arden Elementary School in Richland School District One. Her poster art entitled “May the Forest Always Be With You,” won first place at local, state, and national levels. Laureano’s artwork was designed to promote forest conservation.

The local level art contest is sponsored by the Richland County Soil & Water Conservation District. After winning at the county level, Laureano was awarded first place in the state level art poster contest sponsored by the South Carolina Association of Conservation Districts. She then went on to be awarded the title of 2024 National Winner in the Second Grade and Third Grade Category of the National Association of Conservation Districts Poster Contest.
