The new school year begins on August 17 for Richland One students. The district’s Registrar’s Office offers some tips to make enrolling children in school easier for parents and guardians. • All Richland One Families
Don’t wait until August 17, the first day of school, to register your children for school. Parents/ guardians can start the registration process now. • Families New to Richland One
Bring the following documents to the school for which you are zoned to enroll your child: long-form birth certificate, immunization records, Social Security card, last report card or transcript from previous school, withdrawal from previous school, two proofs of residence (i.e. lease or mortgage statement, bills for property tax, electricity, gas, water, sewer, landline phone or cable/satellite), and a parent/ guardian’s picture ID. • New Students Not Living with Biological Parents
Because of various family situations (including students with parents who are active-duty military), some students live with adults other than their biological parents, such as grandparents or other relatives, family friends, or foster parents.
“Before they can enroll children at one of our schools, adults taking care of students who are not their biological children must first come to the Registrar’s Office to establish educational rights,” said Richland One Registrar Sonia Sheehan.
The Richland One Registrar’s Office provides assistance to students and families regarding admission requirements, proof of residence requirements, custodial/guardianship verification, school zone information and other related matters. Families who would like additional information may contact the Registrar’s Office at 231-6944 or stop by the office at 1310 Lyon Street. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
