Students at two Richland One schools will be greeted by new principals when the 2025-2026 school year begins August 11.
Dr. Timothy Blackwell, who has served as principal at Arden Elementary School for seven years, will be the new principal at Meadowfield Elementary School. Blackwell has over 20 years of experience in education. He has also served as a classroom teacher, math coach, math interventionist, curriculum resource teacher, and assistant principal during his tenure in Richland One.
Blackwell earned a bachelor of science degree in elementary education from Benedict College, a master of education degree in mathematics education from Cambridge College, an education specialist degree in educational administration from South Carolina State University, and a doctor of education degree in educational administration from South Carolina State University.
Shameka Stephney, who has served as assistant principal at Arden Elementary School for six years, will be the new principal at Arden.
A product of Richland One, Stephney attended Webber Elementary School, and she graduated from Lower Richland High School in 1997. She earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Morris College, a master’s degree in educational leadership and administration from Southern Wesleyan University, and a master of education degree in elementary education from South Carolina State University. She began her career as an educator in Richland One at Meadowfield Elementary School, where she taught grades 3-5 and advanced academic programs for 14 years. She was Meadowfield’s 2009-2010 Teacher of the Year.
Blackwell and Stephney began their new duties July 1.
