At the June 17 Richland County Council meeting the following proclamations were presented by the council:
•A proclamation recognizing Blythewood High School Girls Track Team as the 5A State Champions,
•A proclamation recognizing June 15-21 as National Mosquito Control Awareness Week,
•A proclamation recognizing June as Gun Violence Awareness Month.
The following resolutions were approved by unanimous vote and presented by the council:
•A resolution honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Matilda A. Evans,
•A resolution recognizing June as National Safety Month,
•A resolution recognizing Juneteenth.
The Clerk of Council announced two upcoming public meetings in Richland County: a Comprehensive Plan Update is planned for District 10 June 26, 6–7:30 p.m. at Eastover Park, 1031 Main Street, Eastover; a presentation by the Richland County Homeownership Assistance Program is planned for July 8, 6–7 p.m. at the Sheriff’s Department Annex, 2500 Decker Boulevard.
The Third Reading of the FY 2026 Budget was approved by the council.
The following FY 2025 Hospitality Tax Allocations were approved by the council.
•District 1: Miss SC Scholarship Organization $2,400,
•District 7: Edgewood Foundation $5,000 and Camouflage Connection $10,000,
•District 11: Black Expo 2025 $5,000, Kingsville Historical Foundation $10,000, Town of Eastover $5,000, and South Carolina Ballet $5,000.
