USC’s Thomas Cooper Society will honor Larry McMurtry, the award–winning author, essayist, and screenwriter, with its Cooper Medal during the society’s annual dinner and general meeting starting at 6 p.m., April 21 at the Ernest F. Hollings Special Collections Library.
McMurtry is the author of the Pulitzer Prize–winning novel Lonesome Dove and more than 50 other works.
McMurtry is also slated to meet with students during his visit to the University.

Also, a top dealer in rare natural history prints will discuss the value of illustrations by John James Audubon and Mark Catesby Tuesday, April 19, at 5 p.m. in the Ernest F. Hollings Special Collections Library at the University of South Carolina.
The talk by W. Graham Arader III, who has 35 years experience working with major auctions, galleries, and restoration and framing services, is titled “Valuing Audubon and Catesby: The Importance of the Study of Natural History Illustration.”
