The final runs of the inning were scored when Moseley doubled scoring West and Anderson as Post 215 led 11-0 at the end of two innings.
“That was the best inning we’ve had all year,” Post 215 head coach Chris Dorsey said. “Everything we hit dropped. We had a lot of hits that weren’t great, but they dropped. It was our night tonight.”
Post 215 added a run in the bottom of the third when Sears reached on an error scoring Hocutt to push the lead to 12-0.
That was more than enough run support for West and Jack Weston who combined for a three-hit shutout of Post 79. Weston threw 3-and-2/3 innings giving up no runs on two hits while striking out four. West threw 1-and-1/3 innings giving up no hits and one run while striking out two.
“Jack always comes out and does an unbelievable job. He’s so consistent,” Dorsey said. “Stephen West has been so consistent and gives us a good left-handed pitcher. We like to use him in relief. He’s been very comfortable in that role. We have a lot of guys who can throw strikes. I like our strikes to balls ratio. It’s where our coach wants it to be.”
Jack Moseley led the way for Post 215 at the plate going 2-for-2 with three RBI. West went 2-for- 2 with two RBI, and Parker Hocutt went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Bayle Metts pitched 1-and-1/3 innings for Post 79 giving up seven runs on five hits. Levi Dunn pitched 1-and-2/3 innings giving up five runs on five hits while striking out one.
Corbin Wright, Aubrey Richardson, and Josh Raines led Post 79 at the plate with each going 1-for-3.
Post 215 holds a record of 7-2.
“When we started this whole thing I was just ecstatic that all these guys believed in me to come play for me,” Dorsey said. “The players have embraced it. Our goal was to be clicking on all cylinders by the end of the season, and it looks like we are on track to do that. We’ve put ourselves in a really good position. The team is coming together. Once we get our whole team together we’re going to be tough to beat.”
Prior to the game, three PBL teams were recognized for winning championships in their classifications; Midas in Division 1, MUSC in Division 2, and First Citizens In Divsion 3.
