All- Star evening

The AC Flora Foundation will host an All- Star Evening, celebrating the children, the shining stars of AC Flora High School, Friday, March 20, 7 pm- 9 pm at Midtown at Forest Acres (formerly Richland Fashion Mall) in the former Talbots store space, near the TGI Friday entrance. This will be an adults only evening featuring hors d’oeuvres, desserts, and beverages.

Tickets are $30 per person. Please send a check for reservations payable to the AC Flora Foundation to Caroline Matthews, 4734 Wrenwood Lane, Columbia, SC 29206.

Student recognized

Jasmine Ayers was recognized for her achievements in the arts in the Columbia Urban League’s Young and Gifted Awards Ceremony. She was also selected as a spotlight honoree for demonstrating excellence beyond the classroom.

Math Team News

The AC Flora Math team competed recently at the Georgia Tech Math Competition.

Team members Sean Soni, Ian Taylor, Elliott Chartook, Hardie Cate, and Sage Price competed against more than 370 students from 72 schools representing 25 Georgia counties as well as California, Florida, Illinois, North Carolina, South Carolina and Ohio.

The competition, open to students from grades eight- 12, included both varsity and junior varsity divisions.

Participants tackled three phases of tests consisting of multiple choice, ciphering and proof- based problems. Both individual and team awards were presented.

The Flora team finished second place overall in the varsity competition, with Sean Soni (eighth place) and Ian Taylor (tenth place) placing in the top 10. Ian also placed third overall in the ciphering round. Elliott finished 18th overall, Hardie finished 26th and Sage finished 32nd.

Falcons get ready for

Super Saturday

Super Saturday at Memorial Stadium will be held March 21.

This is an opportunity to watch the Falcon Spring Athletic Teams in action and help raise money for their respective teams.

The student athletes will be selling tickets for BBQ, and it’s a great time to come out and watch the athletes.
