The Irmo Chapin Recreation Commission will host Mud Mania 2010 at the Seven Oaks Park, 200 Leisure Lane, Saturday, May 22 from 10:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Mud Mania is a mud clinging, slip sliding, wet and wild obstacle course where kids ages seven–13 are challenged to climb, crawl, jump, and slide their way through seven wet and very mucky obstacles. Obstacles with names like Up–and–Over Barrels, Tube Trouble, the Climbing Wall, and Army Crawl, just to name a few. Children six and under and those with disabilities ages 13 and under can enjoy a mini mud obstacle course and a giant sandcastle building area.
In its seventh year, Mud Mania has grown in popularity from 300 attendees the first year to over 1,200 participants and their families in 2009.
“This event is recreation at its best—it’s fun, it’s free, and it encourages active, outdoor play. We hope everyone will join us for a day of good, but not so clean fun in the mud.” said Elizabeth Taylor, Executive Director for the Irmo Chapin Recreation Com- mission.
Registration for the Mud Mania Obstacle Course begins at 10 a.m. with the race kicking off at 10:30 a.m. A parent/ guardian signed Release of Liability form is required for all Mud Mania participants. The forms are available at Seven Oaks Park, Crooked Creek Park, and Saluda Shoals Park or online at www.icrc.net
All Mud Mania participants should wear old clothing and tennis shoes that either lace or have Velcro closures. For safety reasons no sandals, flip flops, slip–on shoes, or bare feet are allowed.
