Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Benjamin Jett were married June 2, 2012, at Marshlands in Beaufort, South Carolina. The marriage is announced by Dr. and Mrs. Moses Tucker Laffitte III, the bride’s parents of Columbia, South Carolina.
Mrs. Jett, the former Nell Lightsey Laffitte, is the granddaughter of Mr. William Brantley Harvey Jr. and the late Helen Coggeshall Harvey of Beaufort, and Dr. and Mrs. Moses Tucker Laffitte Jr. and the late Nell Lightsey Laffitte of Columbia. The bride graduated from Hammond School and received a B.S.degree in food science and human nutrition from Clemson University. She is finishing a dietetic internship at University Hospital in Augusta, Georgia.
Mr. Jett is the son of Dr. and Mrs. John Benjamin Jett of Lexington, South Carolina. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Grady Cherry of Lexington and Mrs. David Benjamin Jett and the late David Benjamin Jett of Aiken, South Carolina. A graduate of Lexington High School, the bridegroom received a B.S. degree in construction science and management from Clemson University. Mr. Jett currently attends the Medical University of South Carolina College of Dental Medicine.
The bride was escorted and given in marriage by her father.
Helen Harvey Laffitte, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. Other attendants were the bridegroom’s sister, Katie Jett Braddy; the bride’s sister in-law, Caroline Sims Laffitte; the bride’s cousins, Margaret Ruth Bakke, Elizabeth Lucius Laffitte, Dargan McMaster Rain, and Mary Loyal Laffitte Springs; Jenny Jones Burghardt, Heidi Kathleen Lindler, Ellen Rood Traylor, and Lyda Rivers Welborn.
Dr. John Benjamin Jett served as his son’s best man. Groomsmen in the wedding party were the bride’s brothers, Dr. Moses Tucker Laffitte IV and Norris Lightsey Laffitte II; the bridegroom’s brother-inlaw, David Matthew Braddy; the bridegroom’s cousin, Brian Gilbert Rogers; Richard Hendricks Furman, John Edward Griffin, Zackary Andrews Huggins, Charles Wilson Kinard, Colonel Brandon Rogers, and James Burr Scofield.
The wedding service was officiated by the bride’s uncles: the Reverend Daniel Keith Thompson, minister of Christ Community Church of Titusville, Florida, and the Reverend Warren Coggeshall Harvey, minister of Ambassador Presbyterian Church of Apex, North Carolina. Music was provided by Ethan Darnell, soloist; Peggy Copley, flutist; Bruce Easterling, trumpeter; Arleen Melamed, cellist; and Olive Warrenfeltz, violinist. A reception was held on the lawn of Marshlands, the home of the bride’s grandparents.
After a wedding trip, the couple will reside in Charleston, South Carolina.
