Charlotte Adams Gibson of Columbia and Raymond Cochran Hamilton of Lexington were married September 20, 2008, at First Presbyterian Church, Columbia, South Carolina. The Rev. Dr. John Richard DeWitt officiated at the 6 pm ceremony. Music was presented by Ronald Miller, organist, Gary Hipp, bagpiper and The Cate Memorial Handbell Choir.

The bride, daughter of Mrs. Susan Davis Gibson of Columbia, is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Vance Eller of Gastonia, North Carolina, and the late Dr. and Mrs. Rufus Jackson Davis of Belmont, North Carolina. Charlotte is also the daughter of Randy Allen Gibson of Boone, N.C. She attended USC and is a benefits representative with Ward Services.

The bridegroom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Earle Hamilton Sr. of Chester, is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Cornelius McManus Jr. of Mt. Pleasant, and the late Mr. and Mrs. David Lee Hamilton of Chester. He earned a bachelor of science in civil engineering from The Citadel, and is a roadway design engineer with RPM Engineers.

The bride was escorted by her brother, Citadel Cadet William Davis Gibson. Cadet Gibson wore his full dress uniform which included the sash of their maternal grandfather, Dr. Rufus Jackson Davis. The bride wore a formal gown of ivory taffeta. The strapless gown was designed with crystals along the bustline and was accented with rouching around the waistline, that fell into an A- line skirt. A low “V” back, rouched with matching crystals, adorned the back of the cathedral length gown. The bride wore her mother’s cathedral length veil of silk bridal illusion. The mantilla style veil was edged entirely with handmade lace and seed pearls forming intricate patterns enhancing the beauty of the gown. She carried an all white bouquet consisting of roses, hydrangeas and African lilies.

The maids of honor were Jessica Ann Geller of Lexington and Erin Ashley Middlebrooks of Columbia.

Attendants were Blair Kamber Giles of Charleston, South Carolina; Keys Phinney Hamilton of Charleston; Sarah Elizabeth Crutchfield of Raleigh, North Carolina; Dana Brooke Hall of Chester, South Carolina; Jessica Ellen Jordan of Athens, Georgia; Sheryl Renee Gentle; Krystal Alvarez Shrider; Rebecca Lynne Turner; and Callie Elizabeth Vanderbilt of Athens, Georgia.

Junior attendants were Elizabeth Ayers Hamilton of Woodstock, Georgia and Elizabeth Leeanne Brooks Josey of Chester. Flower girls were Anne Gardiner Shull and Mary Douglas Josey of Chester. Honorary attendants were Elizabeth Michelle Floyd of St. Matthews, South Carolina, and Dana Kay Pennington.

Milton Earle Hamilton Sr. of Chester served as best man.The groomsmen were Milton Earle Hamilton Jr. of Charleston; Patrick Whitlock Hamilton of Chester; Joseph August Dattilo of Charlotte, North Carolina; Brandon Spencer Greene; Perry Robinson Collins of Savannah, Georgia; Daniel Hampton Jordan III; Tucker Smyrl Creed; Preston Weeks Stroman of St. Matthews; and Cadet William Davis Gibson. Ring bearers were Jeffrey Allen Muir Jr. and Ashley Harper Shull V.

The bride’s mother entertained with a reception following the ceremony at Leaside.

After a honeymoon to Negril, Jamaica, the couple will reside in Lexington.
