Dolly Dennis Fisher and Peter Hallagan Byrnes were married Saturday, November 10, 2012, at five o’clock in the evening in the courtyard at DeBordieu Club near Georgetown, South Carolina. The Reverend John Willett officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Hagood Fisher of Greensboro, North Carolina. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Dolly Dennis Wells and the late Mr. Ames Haltiwanger Wells of Columbia, South Carolina, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence John Fisher Jr. of Pawleys Island, South Carolina.

The bride is a graduate of Page High School, Greensboro, North Carolina. She received a bachelor of science degree in family and consumer sciencesfashion merchandising from the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia. She was presented by the Debutante Club of Greensboro and by the Terpsichorean Club of Raleigh, North Carolina. The bride is employed by Design Cuisine in Arlington, Virginia, as a sales associate.

The bridegroom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Charles Francis Byrnes of Greensboro, North Carolina. He is the grandson of Mrs. Robert Francis Byrnes, the late Dr. Robert Francis Byrnes, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Edwin Matthews, all of Bloomington, Indiana. He is a graduate of Page High School in Greensboro, North Carolina and attended North Carolina State University. He is currently employed as an information technology specialist by the United Services Organization Inc. (USO), headquartered in Arlington, Virginia.

The bride was escorted and given in marriage by her father. Evelyn Wells Fisher, sister of the bride of Austin, Texas, served as the maid of honor. The bridesmaids were Bethany Estelle Barrett of Alexandria, Virginia; Emmy Dougherty Byrnes, sister-in-law of the bridegroom, of Burke, Virginia; Carolyn Hunt Byrnes, sister-in-law of the bridegroom of Wilmington, North Carolina; Bess Deane Halstead of London, England; Laura Ames Hiers, cousin of the bride, of Charleston, South Carolina; Mollie Elizabeth McAllister of Shanghai, China; Courtney Blair Nance of New York, New York; Amanda Zimmerman Smith of Asheville, North Carolina; and Caroline Kilburn Wilson of New York, New York. The flower girls were Ashlynn Grace Byrnes and Ava Eleanor Byrnes, nieces of the bridegroom, of Burke, Virginia.

John Lumpkin Upson of Winston-Salem, North Carolina served as best man. The groomsmen were the bridegroom’s brothers: Andrew Matthew Byrnes of Burke, Virginia, and Robert Ryan Byrnes of Wilmington, North Carolina. Other groomsmen were John Thomas McCarty of Greensboro, North Carolina; Daniel Micah Mehler of Denver, Colorado; Andrew Jones Pierce of Wilmington, North Carolina; Salem McCall Thacker of Greensboro, North Carolina; and Alexander McAlister Worth III of Greensboro, North Carolina. Cousins of the bride, John Whitaker Harmon and James Fisher Paschal both of Charlotte, North Carolina, were ring bearers. The scripture reader was George Lenoir Fisher, uncle of the bride of Richmond, Virginia. Margaret Rose Fisher of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Lawrence John Fisher IV of Washington, DC, cousins of the bride, served as program attendants.

A reception followed the ceremony in the clubhouse.

Following a wedding trip to the U. S. Virgin Islands, the couple will reside in Alexandria, Virginia.
