Columbia Mayor Steve Benjamin presented the Key to the City to Matt Kennell, CEO and president of City Center Partnership (CCP), at Columbia Rotary Club’s recent meeting.
“Under Matt’s leadership for 20 years, City Center Partnership has been key in attracting nearly one billion dollars in development downtown,” said Benjamin. “His dedication to the Main Street District and the hard work of the men and women in the yellow shirts are a big reason for this tremendous growth. I am honored to present Matt with the Key to the City.”
“Being presented the key to the city is a testament to Matt’s strong leadership skills and natural ability to build high-performing teams,” said Sharon Bryant, regional executive vice president of First Citizens Bank and chair of City Center Partnership. “I along with all the CCP board members want to congratulate Matt on receiving this honor.”
City Center Partnership is a non-profit organization that provides public space management, economic development, place management, marketing services, and public advocacy for the Main Street District in the 36-block area bounded by Gervais, Elmwood, Assembly, and Marion Streets. The organization is funded by the property owners within the district boundaries.
