Forty-eight Lexington Two students are being honored as 2021-2022 Myrdis Walker Scholars.
The district program, established in 1990, recognizes African-American students in eighth through 12th grades who have demonstrated academic excellence. It is named for Myrdis Walker, who taught for many years at the former R. Earle Davis Elementary School in Lexington Two.
This year’s inductees from the district’s two high schools and four middle schools include:
•Airport High School: Jaden Billie, Daniel Jeffries, Alicia Oree, and Ishun Yon
• Brookland-Cayce High School: Tamia Bowman, Cammeran Burns, Christopher Etheredge, Sarah Gilmore, Tyson Gordon, Terry Harley, Gloria Jacobs, Deandre Jones, Nakerianna Mays, Darien Sherman, Ty’Kia Underwood, and Christopher Van Dyke
•Busbee Creative Arts Academy: Trennen Adams-Sutton, Stevie Bennermann, Janasia Blackmon, Lydia Buhl, Meah Etheredge, Mason Fields, Shaylynn Hill, Tiffani Liggie, Nicholas Oliver, Brysaun Pralour, and Stanley Thomas
• Fulmer Middle School: Shane Brockington, Christina Gilmore, Barack Goggins, Charlie Jackson, Carolina Redmond-Murillo, Jayden Standridge, Ni’Yanna Sutton, and Jaylen Thompson
•Northside Middle School: Harmonie Anderson, Pachae’ Butler, Xavier Hamilton, Kaydence Heatley, Ariyanna Kyzer, and Janiyah Wiggins
•Pine Ridge Middle School: Sincere Albert, Ty’Asia Davis, Kaliyah Duggans, Gabrielle Duncan, Delisa Godbolt, Jaquan Huggins, and Nia Jenkins
An induction ceremony is planned for March 29 at the Lexington Two Innovation Center.
