“Family Dentistry” takes on a whole new meaning at Jett Dental as Dr. Ben Jett welcomes his son, Dr. Kevin Jett, to their Devine Street practice in the heart of historic Shandon.

Jett Dental was originally established in 1986 by Dr. Ben Jett, who has provided general and family dentistry to children and adults of all ages along with cosmetic restorations, sedation dentistry, implants, root canal therapy, and extractions.

A native of Aiken, S.C., and a graduate of the University of South Carolina, Dr. Jett completed his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at the Medical University of South Carolina in 1986.

Dr. Jett says he originally went into the dental field to help “restore the broken” and that altruistic quality is a trait he proudly shares with his son, Kevin.

“Now that Kevin has joined my practice, our patients will benefit from having two dentists who share the same Judeo-Christian ethic of serving others and helping to heal and fix that which is broken,” said Dr. Ben Jett.

A native of Columbia, Dr. Kevin Jett received his bachelor’s degree from Clemson University and completed his doctor of dental medicine degree at the Medical University of South Carolina in 2015. From there, he went on to complete a post graduate general practice residency at Palmetto Health Richland.

“It’s a real honor to work alongside my father who taught me that helping and healing others is a gift and a privilege,” said Dr. Kevin Jett. “Being able to help people heal and to improve their dental health is something we are proud to do for a living.”

Beyond their dental practice, both Drs. Ben and Kevin Jett also advocate the importance of dental health by volunteering at local free clinics in the Columbia area.

They have also volunteered for mission trips with the Christian Medical and Dental Association, the Dental Community Fellowship and with the Medical Missions team of First Presbyterian Church of Columbia to provide dental care in Ecuador, Peru, Mexico, and Honduras.

Along with their team of long-term office staff and dental hygienists, both Drs. Ben Jett and Kevin Jett are welcoming new patients to their Shandon practice located at 2329 Devine Street.
