Congressman James E. Clyburn was the honored guest and featured speaker at the grand opening of the James E. Clyburn Community Health Center, a new health care facility at 4605 Monticello Road in Columbia. Over 100 people attended the event sponsored by Eau Claire Cooperative Health Centers, Inc.
Cooperative staff provided tours of the new facility for the public and a reception on the grounds of the building was held following the presentation. The three medical providers located in the new building are Eau Claire Internal Medicine, the Sterling Sharpe Pediatric Center, and the Cooperative Health Pharmacy.
The James E. Clyburn Community Health Center is part of the larger Eau Claire Cooperative Health Center Inc. (ECCHC), which is one of the largest federally qualified health center networks in the State of South Carolina.
The facility opened in April, 2010, and accepts Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance. Also, the center provides health care to the uninsured based on household income on a sliding scale.
Staff member Katherine Robinson says, “We allow the uninsured to be seen at affordable prices as well as receive their medications at a significant discount. We provide healthcare to all people regardless of age, medical condition, or ability to pay. We are a medical home for families.”
