If It’s Paper has moved from its original location at 2429 North Main Street to 1801 Gervais Street, a move made possible by Columbia businessman Cubby Culbertson. The North Main Street store was the original store founded by Dillard Corporation over 20 years ago. It was later purchased and owned by International Paper until the company closed the store in December 2010.

Lisa Ducom has worked for If It’s Paper for 14 years. After announcing the store would be closing in December 2010, she was approached by Culbertson to form a business partnership to purchase the name and trademark for If It’s Paper and reopen the business. Culbertson and Ducom formed an LLC in January 2011, and the business was reopened in February 2011 in its original building at 2429 North Main St.

On June 2012, If It’s Paper moved into a newly renovated 9,000 square foot building at 1801 Gervais Street along with the SmartPhone Medic, also owned by Culbertson. The building is located on the former site of the Michelin Tire Shop on Gervais Street.

Ducom says the new store location has allowed for the expansion of all five product lines: gift packaging, catering products, party supplies, paper and envelopes, and wedding supplies. In addition, If It’s Paper now offers on-site printing services for invitations, novelty items, and other paper items.

Ducom says new printing services are available at a same day to 3-4 day production time and is priced at a “more than competitive” rate than other established retail printing stores. In January 2013, the store will launch its new website with online ordering.

Ducom says the new location is “more personable, easier to shop” and more accessible to downtown Columbia and has better parking available to its customers.

Store hours are Monday Friday 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a. m. – 4 p.m.
