Heathwood Hall head coach Jeff Whalen was unable to make the trip to Ben Lippen Tuesday, January 17, due to an illness in the family. However, his team certainly showed up.

The Highlanders jumped out to a 17–7 lead at the end of the first period and went on to defeat the Falcons 67–51.

Ben Lippen head coach Lonnie Emard used a mixture of full court presses, ball control offense, and balanced scoring to keep the Falcons within striking distance towards the end of the first half. The Falcons made the first basket of the second half, but after that it was all Heathwood Hall.

The Highlanders built an 18 point lead off Odist Harmon’s dunk and Brett Whalen’s breakaway lay–up at 4:34 in the third period. They led by as much as 20 points midway through the fourth period, but the Falcons never quit. The efforts of Ben Lippen seniors Chandler Culbertson and Matt Heaton along with junior David Pascutti kept the fans in their seats.

But in the end Heathwood Hall’s depth and defense were just too much for the Falcons to overcome.

Heathwood Hall was led in scoring by sixth–man Aaron Robinson–Cain with 17. Odist Harmon had 12 points. Brett Whalen added ten points, and Hampton Graham finished with eight for the Highlanders.

David Pascutti led Ben Lippen with 15 points. Matt Heaton added 14, and Chandler Culbertson had 11 for the Falcons.

The Highlanders travel to Hammond Friday, January 20, to face the Skyhawks. The Falcons will look to bounce back when they travel to Great Falls to face the Red Devils.
