Kelsey Chow, a freshman at Hammond School, is grinning right now.
Chow recently returned from Wilmington, NC, where she filmed a guest role for the WB television show,One Tree Hill . Sheilah Dixon of Millie Lewis Models and Talent encouraged Chow to audition for the role. “If it weren’t for [Sheilah] believing in me, I wouldn’t be here,” Chow said.
After mailing an audition tape, Chow got a call the following Friday to come audition in person that Monday. On Tuesday, she found out she got the part. Chow said, “You always think it might happen, but it usually doesn’t. So to get it is just unreal.”

The character Chow plays (GiGi) is a “cute giggly bespectacled girl” who is trying out to be on the high school basketball team. Most of Chow’s scenes are with Lee Norris (Mouth McFadden). Norris is most well known for his role as Stuart Minkus in the ABC sitcomBoy Meets World . “Lee was really one of the nicest people there,” Chow said.
Being able to meet and spend time with stars of the show like Sophia Bush, Hilarie Burton, and Chad Michael Murray was one of Chow’s favorite parts of the experience. But the height of her excitement was when she saw her actor’s chair emblazoned with “GiGi.” For an actor, having a chair with your name on it is symbolic of success, and if Chow has her way, there will be many more of these chairs in her future.
Chow has been very active in community theatre in Columbia. She is a Trustus apprentice, inBroadway Bound , the SC Shakespeare Youth Company, and was a student in SC Governor’s School for the Arts Discovery Program. At Hammond, she is a hard-working student on the varsity track team.
The episode ofOne Tree Hill Chow appears in is scheduled to air Wednesday November 2, 2005 at 8 pm on the WB.
