The USC Chapter NSDAR met November 11 to hear from chairwoman Donnell Baker about Columbia’s Friends of Fisher House.
Dorn VA Medical Center sees 90,000 veterans a year, some from distant parts of the state and from neighboring states. Fisher House will be located on Dorn grounds and provide 16 suites, a kitchen, laundry, and living room for families to use free of charge while their veteran is hospitalized. Fisher House Foundation provides half the cost. The Dorn Friends must raise the other half ($3 million).
Groundbreaking is scheduled for fall 2021.
