Memories In 1956 341 confused freshmen entered the halls of Dreher. Because of crowded conditions at Dreher High School, many of the classmates were left to attend the ninth grade at Hand Junior High. During the sophomore year, this class swelled to 564 when the classmates from Hand entered Dreher. The senior class officers were Chris Leventis, president; Buddy Barker, vice president; Lloyd Hendricks, treasurer; and Wickie Wheeler, secretary.
The administration was principal, Arlie W. Whittinghill; assistant principals, C. W. Branch and Ruth H. Woodruff (who attended the reunion July 24, 2010). Guy L. Varn was superintendent of city schools.
