DPH and BHDD Headquarters relocate to the State’s Health Campus in Cayce

The South Carolina Department of Public Health (DPH) and South Carolina Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (BHDD) have relocated their headquarters to the State of South Carolina Health Campus located at 400 Otarre Parkway in Cayce.

DPH administration and management of its programs moved to the health campus. DPH provides public health services, improvements to licensed health care facilities, and health-related resources to those in South Carolina. While the location of DPH’s headquarters has changed, some of the agency’s Columbiabased services will remain in place for now. View a complete listing of DPH locations and mailing addresses, including Vital Records and the Richland County Health Department services at dph.sc.gov. All DPH affiliated phone numbers remain the same. To reach DPH’s main line, call 803-898-3300. To reach the Care Line or to make an appointment at a local health department, call 1-855-47-3432.

BHDD, a new cabinet-level agency, comprises the Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (formerly the Department of Disabilities and Special Needs), Office of Mental Health (formerly the Department of Mental Health), and Office of Substance Use Services (formerly the Department of Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Services).

As part of the relocation, the administrative and programmatic functions of the BHDD Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (OIDD) moved to the health campus. BHDD OIDD provides services to children and adults with severe, lifelong disabilities. The office does not provide direct services from this location.

BHDD Office of Mental Health’s (OMH) Central Administration relocated to the Cayce facility. BHDD OMH serves as the state’s public mental health provider; its 16 community mental health centers, three inpatient hospitals, and community nursing home continue to serve patients at their current locations during operating hours.

The BHDD Office of Substance Use Services (OSUS) contracts with the state’s county alcohol and drug abuse authorities and a range of public and private service providers to deliver direct prevention, treatment, and recovery services to the citizens of South Carolina. While OSUS is now located on the State of South Carolina Health Campus, its contracted providers continue to deliver services in their same locations.
