Richland County Council met November 4.
A resolution honoring Limitless Community Development (formerly known as Latino Community Development) and a resolution honoring Veterans Day and recognizing the hidden heroes of Richland County were approved.
An ordinance amending the Richland County Code of Ordinances; Chapter 26, Land Development Section 36-3.8 Overlay District, so as to establish the Olympia Neighborhood Character Overlay District was approved.
This vote of approval includes allowing for the continued growth of the Olympia area without compromising the historic character of the neighborhood; the creation of the Board of Architectural Review for the new overlay district; and combining input from staff, the Planning Commission, citizens, and members of council.
The council voted to approve the following Hospitality Tax allocations:
•District 4: Columbia Classical Ballet $3,000; SC Research Foundation (Blind Boys of Alabama Concert) $5,000;
•District 5: Richland Library $2,500;
•District 7: Pink & Green Community Service Foundation $6,000; Kappa Foundation of Columbia SC $5,000; The Big Red Barn Retreat $5,000; Black Pages International $5,000; Auntie Karen Foundation $5,000;
•District 9: Kappa Foundation of Columbia SC $5,000; Community Artisan Farmers Market $10,000.
