Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy

Columbia City Ballet will present its 61st anniversary production of Columbia’s favorite holiday family tradition, Nutcracker at Koger Center, Columbia, December 11–12 and 18–19 at 7:30 p.m. with matinee performances December 11 and 18 at 3 p.m.

This award-winning production is South Carolina’s longest running and largest single performing arts event.

Artistic director William Starrett’s award-winning choreography is combined with a cast of more than 143, new costumes, and magical special effects. The company’s 22 professional dancers will share the stage with local children in each location, ages four to 15.

Principal dancer Claire Rapp will be dancing the famed role of the Sugar Plum Fairy, partnered by principal dancer Maurice Johnson. This will be Maurice Johnson’s first time dancing the role of the Nutcracker Prince and Sugar Plum Cavalier.
