Based on one of Roald Dahl’s most poignantly quirky stories, Roald Dahl’s James and the Giant Peach Jr. is a brand new take on this “masterpeach” of a tale. Featuring a wickedly tuneful score and a witty and charming book, this adventurous musical about courage and self-discovery is destined to be a classic.

The show is directed by CCT’s Paul Lindley. “After we did Roald Dahl’s Matilda last summer, we new this would be a great follow up,” says Lindley. “It has great characters, great costumes, and great performers.”

The story is one adults and young ones alike will be familiar with. When James is sent by his conniving aunts to chop down their old fruit tree, he discovers a magic potion that grows a tremendous peach. It rolls into the ocean and launches a journey of enormous proportions. James befriends a collection of singing insects that ride the giant piece of fruit across the ocean, facing hunger, sharks, and plenty of disagreements along the way.

“This is a great show because it doesn’t hold back,” says CCT Artistic Director Jerry Stevenson, “There’s a genuine sense of adventure, and when that feeling combines with the music young audiences really connect with it.”

James and The Giant Peach Jr. is a joint production the PB&J Players and Entr’acte Ensemble. Part of CCT’s YouTheatre program, CCT’s PB&J Players feature performers grades one through five, while the Entr’acte Ensemble features performers grades six through eight.
