This holiday season the Columbia office of Mauldin & Jenkins, LLC participated in the Families Helping Families holiday assistance program, an initiative launched by the nonprofit Palmetto Project and WIS-News 10 in the Midlands.
Families Helping Families provides assistance to more than 3,600 families in need of food, clothing, and Christmas gifts in South Carolina. To be eligible for the program, families must complete an application and undergo a screening process.
Mauldin & Jenkins is a national CPA and business advisory firm with offices throughout the Southeast. The Columbia office is just one of the firm’s 14 locations, and each office supports a wide variety of community service and engagement activities.
Tesla Plitt, an associate in M&J’s Columbia office, is used to high participation rates and enthusiasm for the firm’s numerous charitable initiatives and volunteer efforts.
“This project was such a fun way to give back to members of our community,” Plitt said. “As an office, we shopped together, wrapped up the gifts, and delivered them straight to the Families Helping Families warehouse. This was a very fulfilling experience for me personally, as I was able to pick out special items that I thought the members of this family would enjoy receiving on Christmas.”
