The ColaJazz Foundation has announced the launch of the Eboni Ramm Music Scholarship, made possible by the generosity of the SLW Charitable Fund. This scholarship honors the legacy of Eboni Ramm—a jazz vocalist, educator, and vital force in Columbia’s jazz scene. Two talented high school musicians will receive eight weeks of personalized, one-on-one instruction from ColaJazz’s acclaimed teaching artists. Each student will engage in weekly 45-minute lessons from September through November 2025 at the ColaJazz office, located at 2123 College Street.
The ColaJazz teaching space is fully equipped with a baby grand piano, drum set, upright bass, electric guitar, and PA system, providing an inspiring environment for comprehensive musical growth.
This initiative nurtures young musicians’ skills and passion while offering meaningful work for professional teaching artists, who receive competitive pay per session.
“Eboni Ramm was my ‘partner-in-crime,’” said Mark Rapp, executive director, ColaJazz. “Together, we launched the now in-demand ColaJazz Outreach initiatives in schools, beta-tested the prestigious jazz at Lincoln Center curriculum, performed concerts, produced holiday jazz videos for Prisma Children’s Hospital, created jazz education videos for kids, partnered with Richland Library, and much more. Eboni was a shining light—an example of love, kindness, and soul. I am deeply grateful to the SLW Charitable Fund for enabling us to honor her enduring legacy through these specialized, dedicated lessons.”
