The Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement will hold multiple evenings full of fun and games with Councilwoman Tina N. Herbert. City of Columbia Solid Waste Division is offering expedited trash collection for move outs through July 31. Solid Waste experiences large increases in bulk item collection during the spring and summer months due to college students moving out from rental properties. Residents are encouraged to call the Solid Waste main office to report they have a pile for collection. Solid Waste will in turn collect the pile within 24-48 hours dependent on the time of the report. Items in these piles may include, but are not limited to clothing; dishes, kitchen tools, and utensils; furniture; bedding; storage bins; artwork or wall hangings; mops, brooms, or other cleaning tools, and bulky plastics (i.e. coolers, buckets, or bathroom garbage pails). Please note this service is for residential homes only. Students and residents in apartment complexes are encouraged to donate unwanted items.
