Wingard’s Market’s Backyard Nature Center and innovative gardening concepts has been selected for the June edition of Garden Center Magazine’s “Spotted” feature.

Midlands Housing Alliance (MHA),has announced a new multiphase housing project named Monarch Manor. The new facility will convert a vacant, multi office building complex into affordable housing for senior adults over the age of 62 with additional spaces for an adult day care and offices for community support services. The project will repurpose a vacant office park behind Dutch Square Mall. LCK Construction Management is overseeing the project with financing by OPTUS Bank. Construction is scheduled to begin mid-summer.

The Richland County Recreation Commission has announced the grand opening of the Lower Richland Community Gaming Zones. The gaming fun will begin on Saturday, July 8, 10 a.m. at Bluff Road Park, 11 a.m. at Hopkins Park, 12 p.m. at Eastover Park, and 1 p.m. at Caughman Road Park.

Sully’s Steamers, a restaurant known for its steamed sandwiches, opened June 26 at 2835 Devine Street. An official ribbon cutting ceremony to welcome Sully’s Steamers to the Columbia area will be determined at a later time.

Chestnut Cottage Bed & Breakfast was scheduled to host a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday, June 29, 1718 Hampton Street.

Eagle Aviation, one of the nation’s oldest fixed-base operations (FBO) in Columbia, is now under new ownership. Longtime employee of the company and industry veteran Lee Thomas has acquired Eagle becoming only the second owner since 1967.
