Airport High’s JROTC team places third in the nation at National High School Drill Team Championship







Airport High School’s Army JROTC drill team brought home top honors recently, finishing third overall in the nation at the National High School Drill Team Championship. The Golden Talon drill team was among a field of 92 of the nation’s best JROTC teams from the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, and Coast Guard military branches competing May 3-5 in Daytona Beach, Florida. In addition to the overall third place finish, the team placed in several individual events, among them—second place, Commander’s Trophy; second place, Platoon Inspection w/Arms; fourth place, Platoon Regulations w/Arms; fourth place, Color Guard; fourth place, Squad Exhibition w/Arms; and fourth place, Platoon Exhibition w/Arms. CSM Harry Ferguson is the Airport drill team’s coach and adviser. Contributed by Dawn Kujawa
