A. C. Flora High School senior Daniel Brown has been selected for the 2025 Shrine Bowl Run Team, which recognizes the top senior cross country athletes in South Carolina.

The runners selected for the team will transport the football that will be played during the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas in a relay format. The relay will start at Shriners Children’s Hospital in Greenville and end at Spartanburg High School, where the Shrine Bowl will take place.

Student-athletes are selected for the run team based on their individual results from the state championship meets.

Daniel was ranked among the top 10 individual boys athletes in the Class AAAA state championship in Aiken November 14, with a time of 16:29.71.

He says he’s following in the footsteps of his father, who was part of the Shrine Bowl Run Team in the early 1990s.

“My dad is the reason I do this sport. He grew up doing it and knew I’d be good,” Daniel said. “When I heard I got selected, I was pretty happy. It was a big deal.”

The Shrine Bowl will take place December 20.
