Spring Valley tops Ridge View

Photo by Jim Marczesky In the second cross-district clash of the season between the two squads, the Spring Valley Lady Vikings stymied the Ridge View Lady Blazers 66-55 Tuesday, November 27.

The Vikings defeated the Blazers a week earlier to claim the A.C. Flora Tip-Off Classic and will meet one more time in December at Ridge View.

The Vikings, with a 4- 0 overall record, put three players in double figures. Ashley Williamson had a game-high 23 points, Lauryn Taylor had 16, and Destiny

Coleman chipped in 11. Laila Acox had 18 points, and Aliyahh Kelley added 12 to lead the Blazers, now 2-2 overall.

The Vikings got off to a 19-6 first quarter lead, as Taylor established herself early in the paint, contributing eight points. The Blazer offense came to life a bit in the second quarter, but the Vikings were able to take a 36-25 lead to the break.

Photo by Jim Marczesky Acox got her first points for the Blazers about three minutes into the third quarter, and the sophomore center provided most of the Blazers’ offensive work in the second half. The Blazers got to within at 49- 43 to end the third, but a 10- 0 Viking spurt to open the fourth quarter helped the Vikings cruise to the win.
