The Eagle is Scouting’s highest rank, achieved by only about two percent of those who participate in Boy Scouts.

In his remarks, Asa took the opportunity to state he felt “scouting’s important contribution in today’s youth culture is to get kids outdoors and away from electronic platforms.”

Asa’s grandfather, Les Fannin, received the same award in January of 1949.
