Augustine and her children Anthony, Aeica, and August are the beneficiaries of a new Habitat House constructed by employees of BlueCross BlueShield, Aflac, Terminix, and Publix. As part of the BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina commitment to the community, 152 BlueCross employees helped build a house with Habitat for Humanity. The employees spent a total of 570 hours on weekends and never during the work day building the home.

With the help of the BlueCross volunteers, a single mother and her three children will be able to own their first home. With Habitat’s small staff and typical volunteer layout, it would take 4-6 months for a house to be finished, but with the help of the BlueCross volunteers, the time was cut in half.

BlueCross was one of several companies including Aflac, Terminix, and Publix to be part of the Blitz Build for Habitat for Humanity.
