Miss Fawcett and Mr. Grantz exchange wedding vows June 30


Mrs. Derrick Alan Grantz Mrs. Derrick Alan Grantz Margaret Deans Richardson Fawcett and Derrick Alan Grantz, both of Columbia, were married June 30, 2018, at Trinity Cathedral in Columbia, South Carolina. The Very Reverend Timothy Jones and The Reverend Susan Blackburn Heath officiated the 6 o’clock ceremony. A reception followed at Forest Lake Club.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Gavin Fawcett of Columbia. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Donald Valentine Richardson III and the late Mr. Richardson of Columbia and the late Mr. and Mrs. John Rutherford Fawcett Jr. Margaret Deans is employed with Camp Cole in Columbia and Hammond School as the competition cheer coach.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Alan Grantz of Columbia. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Henry Niedenstein and the late Mr. and Mrs. Willard Lester Grantz. He is employed with Republic National Distributing Company of South Carolina.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents. Maid of honor was the bride’s sister, Katharine Anne Fawcett, and matron of honor was the bride’s cousin, Elizabeth Seabrook McCutchen. Bridesmaids were the bride’s sister-in-law, Kathryn Grantz Catalana; Ferris Kennette deTreville; Mary Barringer Heath; Katherine Hamilton Helms; Kelley Winston Jones; Harriet Nelson Kneece; Elizabeth Simms Byrd Oliphant; Katherine Evelyn Sadler; Kelsey Gail Sawyer; Anna Kneece Strauss; and Martha Glazener Walker. Flower girls were Logan Elizabeth Catalana, niece of the bride; Jennie Luck Clark, goddaughter of the bride; and Leigh McCullough Norris.

Jeffrey Alan Grantz served as his son’s best man. Groomsmen were the groom’s brother-in-law, Brian James Catalana, and the bride’s brothers, Peter Gavin Fawcett Jr., James Patrick Kelly Fawcett, Donald Richardson Fawcett, and Rutherford Hunter Fawcett; Benjamin Patrick James Dudek, Daniel McGill Connor Freeman, Kevin Edward Gross, James Clayton Mitchell III, David Douglas Moffat II, and Matthew William Mubarek. The ring bearer was Griffin James Catalana, nephew of the groom. The crucifer was Alec Lewis Norris Jr.

Scripture was read by the bride’s cousin, Richardson Gaillard Seabrook, and Katherine Elizabeth Kneece.

Guests were greeted by Langley Gaillard Altman, Hannah Jean Buckner, and Margaret Elisabeth Godowns.

Music was provided by organist Dr. Jared C. Johnson of Trinity Cathedral; and Francesca Kelly of Chicago, Illinois, and Steven Hillard of Columbia were soloists.

The bride and groom will reside in Columbia, South Carolina.
